I went to both Seaford and Lindenhurst high schools.I just found the Lindenhurst site and I have to say it puts this one to shame. If you would like to see a model to use to fix up this one up . Go to the link. I also have to say, In lindenhurst they have half the money .Yet twice the school spirit. It should win an award .[glow=red,2,300][/glow] www.lhs1984.org/homepage.php

Steve T - You have done a good job with this site. Please dont take what I wrote above the wrong way. It was not meant to sound hostile.I just saw the other site and also I was reading the old posts about Seaford baseball and how the team had the talent but not the leadership and thats why I wrote that.

I went through the Seaford School system and my children have gone through the Lindenhurst school system. I personally think that Seaford had alot more "school spirit" than Lindenhurst does. You really can't compare the two, as when I graduated SHS with one of the largest classes (325 students), Lindenhurst has an average of 600 students in their graduating classes, which means the students aren't nearly as close with one another when you've got nearly 50% more students. The Lindy website you suggested people look at is fine -- but its only ONE YEAR 1984. This website is inclusive of all the years...

Kmarino - You just made my point for me. Thank you The lindenhurst site IS only one year. Yet for ONLY one year they have 30 times more stuff on theirs than we have for the whole history of Seaford high school. Please read my follow up. This was not meant as negitive as it sounds. By the way , I never knew lindenhurst had twice the amount of students. Try not to let that get out. They are a very rowdy bunch and we dont want any trouble. lol

Dear 5050,
I've just checked the Lindenhurst Class of 1984 site out and it is a great site, however so is this one. The wording that you have used in your subject line "Lindenhurst page puts this one to shame" truly set a negative tone. It puts down this site.
In my opinion, Steve has created an AWESOME site, which has give MANY of us an opportunity to reconnect with classmates. I for one appreciate his effort and his generosity to opening this site up to ALL SHS ALUMNI.
Your second post explaining that you weren't meaning to sound hostile, is just a bit too little too late. You may not have meant to offend, but you did. Different isn't always better. It is just different.
Again, thanks Steve. Many of us truly appreciate this site and all of the work you have put into it.

Dont shoot Pat. I knew it did not sound as I meant it to. Thats why I wrote the follow up. If you want to confront someone who has already addmitted his mistake and said he was sorry. Perhaps you you can take a day off from work and go on the "Jerry Springer Show" . The part I wrote about spirit came right after I read the old postings about Baseball in the "alumni baseball game " thread (page 7).Check it out and see what I mean. If I could take it back I would. Steve deserves props for putting this together and anyone who takes their own time to do anything for their old School has Major School Spirit.
Again and for the last time A 1000 PARDONS

Hey 5050, don't dare let the negativism in our "ol baseball memories" let you form any opinions about this site, or about Seaford in general, because unless you played baseball for our varsity teams, you wouldn't understand. By the way, we loved playing, win or lose, and all that talk about our underachieving is JUST talk amongst us ballplayers--- we're aloud to to that. Because in our hearts, we know we achieved. And making fun of the coaches really was and still is only something that is done because our own shortcomings. So lay off. By the way, our alumni team is now an incorported non-profit organization-- we've only just begun and have already given back over $300.00 dollars in awards to present day varsity players. We've also had two alumni games that have been successful, well-played, and fun basball games, not to mention the fund-raising efforts within our community, school district, and alumni players. I know you have apologized to Steve and others but I'd like to just add.... blah! to the 1984 Linenhurst page!

Conlon used the throw-up line on us many times. But then again we Were a bunch of under-achievers that won nothing during the 70's and '80's right? Big names and talent we thought, but no championships--- no drive, spirit, enthusiasm-- I wonder if it was the coaching..... hmmmm. You know that spirit that is suppose to filter down to the players. The drive to win. Perry:
The inability of the Varsity teams I was on to achieve anything of significance was disappointing year in and year out. We had enough horses - no chemistry and not a heck of a lot of fun were the problems. The teams played tight and, in many ways, bore the personality of the short guy with the SpotBilt cleats. Contrast that with the success the little league all star teams had, and how much fun we had playing, and a clue reveals itself. [glow=red,2,300][/glow]Well said, Tom, very well said.
I really liked VC, he was really was a great guy who was witty, respected, and a fun, fair teacher.... just on the ballfield that dozens of talented Seaford ballplayers couldn't All be wrong.

Basaball beena very very good to me - - - Blah - - * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * : I remember being in the Army. Lots of orders , digging holes and cleaning tiolets. I hated it back then and could not wait to get out. Today I would trade almost anything to go back in time for just one day. To quote the last line in the movie "Biloxi Blues" [glow=red,2,300][/glow] I dident much care for those guys back then But today I love every last one of them.

WOW$300.00 ! I am impressed. I must say that anyone who does anything for the lower class people that need help is a great person. For over 25 guys who live in one of the richest towns on Long island to get together and come up with $3oo.oo to give to the VERY needy kids of Seaford is got to be one of the most nicest things I have heard of yet... Just to show you that I also am a great person. The other day when I came out of the supermarket I put a quarter in a collection can and I did not even take the fake flower. If you have something that you love to do both as a kid and as an adult. That is a great thing to have. All of us should be that lucky. Also if you are doing something for someone else that also is a great thing. But 300.00 is less than the kids spend to buy a new pair of shoes or taking your wife out to dinner. It is not something to brag about. It makes you look cheap. Not to mention who you are giving the money to.If you want to play baseball then play baseball. But dont try to make it such a wonderful thing that you are collecting pennys for people who dont need them. There are two reasons why a guy will nit pick about what another guy has said. Either his wife is out of town or she is not. lol You wrote the stuff. Dont get made at me.

Kmarino76 , Patnorton , Perry v and anybody else who has read my post. [glow=red,2,300][/glow] Steve has done a good job with this site but he cant do it alone and know one should expect him to. I wish I still had my old photos. I would have sent them to Steve when I first found this site. But even if I did ,Steve does not have the time to upload all those shots. This is where you guys all come in. Dust off your old yearbooks and photos of Seaford.Scan them into your pc using jpeg format. If you dont know how just take them to ANY photo store and they will do it for a couple of bucks. After you have scanned your photos , Put them on your ISP ,s photo page. All ISP,s give you at least 10 megs for you to put your photos on the internet to SHARE with others. Copy the link and paste it on this web site so all can see. I will start a thread where you can put the links.(Hometown Photos) The rest is up to you. This is a good idea. So dont shoot it down. Get Busy

I feel I must jump in here.
Thanks for the kudos.
However, if this Seaford-on-Seaford sniping continues, I will adjust the message board into a registration only board in order to cut down on the "Guest" comments.
All I ask is that message board contributors to keep on topic and remember that once published, there will be visitors from around the country and also visitors from over 30 countries will be reading these comments. In my eyes, it kinda of looks ridiculous to have an alumni website where fellow alumni flame each other.
So please keep the "flames" down to a minimum.
Thank you.
p.s. in case you are interested, I spend at least 2-3 hours a week checking message board comments, checking guest book comments, checking email for Virtual Memorial inclusions and updating the website where needed.
so if these boards do a 180 degree turn into a public sniping forum, I'll shut it down because I didn't set this website up to be a public be-och session.
Thank you for visiting and I appreciate everybody's support.

Steve, these message boards have been a wonderful thing for the last few years. It's quite obvious that "old guy" "darth vader" "town idiot" and all those other hostile reponses are from the same person. I realize you are being quite delicate with the situation, but the bottom line is that this person is RUINING this site. He/she should relieve himself by name so that we can all talk to him/her. That person should be shut down, not this site. I will say this, many of us will no longer visit this site which is what i think the "town idiot" is trying to do to you, and us. He is truly an idiot.
