How did Seaford Alumni deal with the blackout of 2003? Where were you when the lights went out? What did you do? How did you cope?

My daughter and I were out in Jamesport visiting with my sister, Irene and her hubby Glenn. We survived by eating ice-cream, catching up on some reading( by candle light )and taking an evening stroll at a nearby beach on the Peconic Bay. Wasn't really all that bad, actually. Meanwhile, here in New England where my hubby was...he was in heaven with the a/c , tv , and microwave(popcorn) !

We had a rather interesting scenario.... We survived the blackout without too many problems (we hooked up a small generator for lights and fan). Our problem was that we were scheduled to attend our nephew's wedding in Memphis and the airline said the flight and JFK was open -- lo and behold -- it was not on Friday morning! We came all the way home (as we were dropped off there) via taxi and took our jeep and drove the 1200 miles and made it to the wedding with about 4 hours to spare! Just enough time to shower and get dressed (and take a power nap)! It is one wedding I'll never forget -- for many reasons -- blackout of 2003~! ;D
