Miss Agnes Sullivan was my sixth grade teacher in the harbor School. I always remember her having a kind word for everyone. She also helped me learn how to control my temper - a real problem in elementary school! Ms. Bernadette Voras was my high school biology and marine biology teacher. She also was the advisor to the oceanography club. Her love for nature came through in her teaching. I will always remember her enthusiasm and genuine passion for her subject.

I had Miss. Sullivan for sixth grade also, but during the '76-77 school year. I graduated in 1983. I keep in touch with her, and I thought you might like to know that she is living in Florida and has recently been diagnosed with macular degeneration. She will go blind, but she is still the same busy lady we know and love.

Hi Diane,
Thank you for the information on Miss Sullivan. I'm sorry to hear of her illness, but glad to know where she is and that she is as enthusiastic towards life as ever.

My favorite teacher at the Harbor School was my 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Barbara Bauer. She was awesome. She could control the entire class even though she had "centers" or groups of students working on different subjects at the same time. I remember her saying that she didn't get angry often but when she did she was on the war path. And oh my was she ever. But we all respected her. I also remember the "linking verb song" she taught us. It was sung to the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy. I remember going to her house and watching her son sometimes too. She was an awesome teacher. The last I heard she was Principal of Harbor School. But I would love any current info anyone may have about her.

Ms. Voras- Unbelievable. I still talk about her when i mention influencal people in my life. I'm with Pat Norton-had her in Bology and Oceanography Club. Still have not met anyone with such incredible appreciation for the ocean life. I can still smell her classroom when we had tanks of marine creatures that we caught on her friends boat, Captain Bob. Does anyone know what has happened to her? Would love to get in touch or just know where.

Miss Voras was the reason I wanted to go to Oceanography school after I got my BS in Bio. When the $$ wasn't there to get my M.S., I got my teaching degree instead. I remember her Dodge Charger that she drove us to Jones Beach in! She had bee a nun before coming to SHS, (or so we heard) so we were quite surprised to see her drive up in it! Great teacher, great lady, great to be that influential.

MS. SULLIVAN WAS THE MOST AMAZING TEACHER I EVER HAD, SHE GUIDED ME THROUGH SOME TREMENDOUS DIFFICULTIES WHEN I WAS IN SIXTH GRADE. THEY DON'T MAKE TEACHERS LIKE HER ANYMORE. I HOPE SOMEONE TELLS HER THAT SHE STILL HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT PART OF FLORIDA SHE'S IN? I HAVE A LETTER I'VE WANTED TO WRITE TO HER FOR MANY YEARS, TO LET HER KNOW WHAT SHE MEANT TO ME THEN AND NOW.
